2019 New Year’s Resolutions

I don’t care what anyone says.  I like the idea of New Year’s resolutions.  It’s a time to take inventory of your life, count your blessings, and shed the baggage to move forward into a new year with a clean slate.  It’s a time to refresh and reset.

Last year, I wrote a New Year’s post.  My goal for 2018 was to make memories.  I was coming out of several years being consumed by a career that always came first, second, and third in my life.  I wrote about how I lived and breathed teaching, how I defined myself by that one thing.

But here I am.  At the end of 2018, I am proud to say that I’ve branched out, let go of the bitterness, and have made those memories.  It’s this year that I’ve fallen in love with my husband all over again.  I’ve spent my days at home with the kids.  And it feels good.  There has been heartache in fostering, but after a long year, I feel more confident than ever that God’s got this.

Going forward into 2019, my goal is to be a yes person.  I’ve already been operating under that philosophy for a couple months, but I definitely want to continue and make 2019 a year defined by seizing opportunity.  I want to push myself to do things I ordinarily wouldn’t do and get past being uncomfortable to try something new.  And I figured that 90% of making friends is just showing up, so I plan on following through and being there, even if my introverted self would rather stay home and drink wine.  I’ve said no to so many things.  Now it’s time to live a little.

I hope you all have learned from 2018 and are ready to move forward.  What are your 2019 New Year resolutions?
